EDIT : Apart from driving it to Brundles not touched the van today, needed a break from it

Hoping this week to get cupboard nade for water containers, cooker and sink. Then in for insurance checklist to be signed off by garage

Once that's done i can take a bit of time sorting the nicities like carpet etc

Fold up table will go at far end near sliding door.

Other than that its just fit cupboard doors for storage under the bed.

Getting garage check done Tuesday. Its bare bones basic right now but meets criteria. Can take my time once thats done, nicitities like carpet etc

How comes your making all your frames from metal.

Have you considered weight?
Payload isn't great on vans so every little helps.

What spec is the van out of curiosity. Year wheelbase etc.

Hi elusive. Going metal cos if i did wooden frames they'd be every angle but 90 lol

Seriously tho I've tried to minimise weight of the frames. All the metal is 25mm, the box section is ERW with 1.5mm wall and the angle iron and flat bar are 3mm thick

Not weighed anything but the cupboard frame is really light. Even the big half of the bed is a one man carry, i lifted it over a 4ft hedge easily

Van is low roof short wheelbase vivaro, 2900 model. Max gross actually a little past 2900 kilos

Can check but seem to recall difference between kerb weight and max gross over 800kg? Owners manual upstairs, check later

Glad i checked, difference between kerb and gross 1247kg, chuffed

Cant see fixtures I've added even hitting 300kg, lots of spare capacity yet i reckon

I've never been to Skye but its on my list.

Long time ago now went camping at Sandwood bay, its not far from Cape Wrath.

Left car near Kinlochbervie and walked to the bay. Pitched tent just behind dunes. Was ace place to visit.

Not sure if photos were ever put onto computer, I'll check and post some if i can. Beautiful beach.

Not to be confused with Sandside bay tho, thats radioactive. No joke.

Hmm, low roof? Didn't I read it hat to be high roof to get it changed to camper class?

You did and I'm not even applying to get DVLA class changed

Got an insurance company who will accept it as a camper with a report from a garage. Thats booked for Tuesday.

Besides I'm the tallest in my family, 3ft 9inches

The whole bit over getting the DVLA stuff changed isn't worth bothering with. Interesting you need a garage report though, I don't need anything like that for mine with my insurance.

I think it's just to satisfy them your not after cheaper insurance for a van.

I'm fairly pleased with price of camper insurance so worth it i reckon.

Once garage done the check tmw I'm having a few days off. Probably to drink

The laminate us proving to be a bit of a pain, think @ Mark 2 raised a good point.

After test tmw gonna have a rest for a bit. Plus i need to up my skills for when i start the carpet fitting to the fixtures, roof etc.

Enjoyed it overall tho.

@SteScouse I'm surprised you haven't fully insulated, Panelled & done your electrics? Before the floor & fixtures

Under the floor is insulated and behind anywhere i have panelled.

Also got a good length of stout wire under floor thats long enough to reach roof either side of van.

I'll sort electrics i need before panelling and insulating the rest.

But like we've discussed before i dont want to be paying van rates for insurance for a long time, not when camper insurance about half the cost.

So bare bones to meet spec it is for now. Once criteria met i have more time, doing this around work commitments.
