Aye. Still need to repair the table (it's moving up the list) and buy a dro but had plenty of use already.
About as.big as.id fit in my space tbh.
One day il mod it to keep reference when lifting.

He has a selection of videos showing his.mods.
Gives you a good look at the mill too.

Theres always a few on face book market place if you look. I dont like the round colums found it frustrating for serious milling!

All depends on the soave and budget though!

I'd go for this one (And am half considering it ), half the price of the Axminster, far more sturdy and looks like it already has a DRO fitted. I assume, given you're looking at round column styles, you're pressed for space?

Aye - that's the one I've got. Paid less than half what that one's on for, though!

It's been a great first mill but even in my clodfisted and amateurish hands I've started to get frustrated by its shortcomings.
Maybe time to upgrade

Edit: Should probably say what some of these shortcomings are!
Lack of a knee adjustment can be a pain, switching belts to change speed is convoluted, and it has a tendency for the head to go wandering under anything more than light pressure.
Generally fab machine and I know a lot more (still not much, though!) about milling than I did beforehand, and well worth the money - but I can see why people like the bigger / stronger machines.

I am sure you can do great work with most mills, my personal preference is one that has a knee, as well as one with a quill,

The quill saves having a big drill,

My first mill was just a small one and did some good work, but was tight for space when I had my rotary table on, and
My current is a Chester 626, that has a 5 inch spacer fitted, it’s no where near a great mill, but it’s good for what I use it for, and is great as a drill, which is what it’s mostly used for,

They are a bit like lathes though, you always would like a bigger better one, if you only had the space.

Buy a British, European or a American machine , much better than far east machines.
