.For an instrument that’s generally rated as beginner/intermediate, it’s well made, has a great sound, and is bloody loud . Think this will live in the truck during the week while the existing one gets some much needed tlc. Doubtless OH will start quoting Spinal Tap, yet again: “I know, don’t even look at that one!”

), and had a go at making a paddle out of an old scaffold board. Went old school and just used a pencil, a saw and a drawknife, all by hand no power tools, and even though pine boards are truly awful being full of knots and splits, I was quite pleased with the end result. I’d never contemplate using it due to there being a big knot just below the “pommel’, which would undoubtedly split if I ever had to put the power on, but it just shows what can be achieved with not much more than some effort. Here it is at the side of one of my “proper” paddles:
