Diesel cab heater

It is starting to get a bit cold in the shop.
Are any of you using a self contained diesel cab heater.
Banggood are sending me one to play with.
It looks like a direct copy of a "Wabasto" unit
At a fraction of the price.
It needs the exhaust to be outside the building runs from 12 volt
Could be ideal for a small shop like mine

My Touareg has a webasto built in, Purely for helping the engine to heat the coolant when the temp drops below 4* According To VW, the engine is "so efficient" it doesn't put a lot of waste heat into the water, so in the winter needs the webasto to help to heat the water more quickly.. Driver has not got any control over the system at all and there is no indication that it is working. If anybody has any further info, I would be very interested,

I have used plenty of blown air heaters on boats, they often give problems.

The traditional makers have been Eberspacher, Webasto and Mikuni, all grossly over-priced, (yacht prices..) and fitted with ECU's which can shut the unit down, sometimes needing a dealer to re-boot! (Which is not much use at sea..)

Fairly recently, some Russian Co. started selling Planar branded ones, the same but simpler and much cheaper, gathering a good reputation among sailors.

Then the Chinese got in the market, they are the ones you can find on eBay.

I'm guessing the Bangood is Chinese like the drills etc they gave you.

All such heaters draw a fat current on start-up, using a glow-plug, *don't skimp on the wiring thickness*.

*Follow the instructions for the ducting*.

In general they will run on diesel, paraffin or jet fuel.

Swmbo has one in her horsebox, thats about 40` long and it keeps the whole thing toasty even when its minus plenty.

Looks interesting, any reason why you went with BG? Looking on there and comparing prices to fleebay there didn't seem too be any difference in price or product. I've not seen banggood before, is it another Alibaba type site?

They are quoting 0.2 litre per hour
Running on red or kerro should be OK
Be better than the electric fan hearer i have now.
At least you can see how much you are using

I have done a few video reviews for them.
I get to keep the items i review & get a small commission.
It will never make me rich but it all helps
The items i have reviewed have been mostly metal cutting tools
In sort i get the heater for "nowt"
Saying that if it is no good i will say just that no holds barred at all

Ahh I see thanks, I'll have a root through there website, they seem to have a lot of tooling.

If you ran one of these from it's own little fuel tank, would you be ok using red diesel with a vehicle?

I have a propane one somewhere in the rafters of the garage, i guess it would be an expensive thing to run, I think it's 12 Volts. I will have to see what make/model it is and see if it still works.

From what i gather they will burn anything .
I get a fair bit of diesel petrol mix at work.
From people putting the wrong fuel in to vehicles.
We used to run the jet kart on it.
