It looks reasonable in fairness - well finished etc. Perhaps I didn't nip it up tight enough - but with a clarkson not so essential - it tightens as it goes. Just lack of cheap cutters is the main drawback.

From reading, the mill would originally have come with a set of 4 x Imperial sizes. The Seller offered me a full set [inc afaik a very rare one, have identified them all yet] of Metric collets for £20 & I took him up on them.

Under a heavy cut, you could find a cutter pulling out of an ER collet. That is impossible with the Clarkson chuck because the rotation of the cutter screws it back against the centre.

There were no flats on the collet chuck to hold while you tighten the clamping nut and no spindle lock on the mill so it simply wasn't tight enough
Chuck now has 2 flats machined on it so I can hold it with a spanner while tightening the clamping nut

So not really a fault of the ER system.
I have never had a cutter pull out of an ER collet yet and I take some serious cuts at times.
I am not knocking the Clarkson style, they are good for threaded HSS cutters but that seriously limits their use.
