Found this yesterday in a roof space.
Had been there for a long time. It was thick in spiders webs and their remains.
What to do with it.?
Oh yes, I have a spare shaft.
I’ve been in the Czech Republic all week. Training up on Verner Motor Radial engines

Stumbled upon this at a local boot sale.
American Tap and Die company. Couple of bits missing.
Key and car fob for scale.
I'm not so sure I want passers-by looking at my cock swinging in the breeze.
Pretty sure they won't want to either...
Used to be a lad could walk down the street with a huge knife on his belt and an axe in his hand and nobody would bat an eye.View attachment 157596 View attachment 157595 View attachment 157595 View attachment 157596
Just done this one with my lad, his first tool restoration , his own hatchet for Scouts and for chopping kindling at home for pocket money
LookL like dies on the top item?Right, now to the real acquisitions. Met a chap a little bit along the street and stopped to blether. He said "Oh, I'm glad you stopped, I found a couple of things while looking for something else and thought you might find a use for them, being into metalwork an' all. [He's into woodworking].
So, we have exhibit A [I know what it's for but do any of you]. It belonged to his Dad who ran a local garage until he retired, and is no longer with us. The name "M Brown" is stamped on the underside, so it might be an Apprentice/student test piece. That wasn't his Dad's name.

And exhibit B: Neither of us know what it is/is for. It's very heavy for it's size so possibly cast steel or iron, not done any magnet, file or spark test on it - in truth I'm reluctant to and I'm not even sure I'd know how to exactly decipher the results [I know a little]. Clearly for clamping something, but what? No markings on it either.

What goes around comes around, it's your reward for being a decent person. She dropped off at home and gave me this, a cardboard box as Thanks for helping her move house a few months ago.
Has she got a sister? What did I acquire today?
Well a friend took me out for dinner. Not a traditional Sunday lunch, but a Chinese's buffet lunch. She drove and paid for it.
Win. Win.

No I don't know what "SATO TAPES" were either. Until Googled helped.
So do I need those tapes?
