The last three days I've been on the 18th edition electrical regs course and today I got a pass!


I somehow came top of the class and got a pass Mark of 90%!!!

I've also just been rumbled about the new drill.......

Obviously it’s a celebratory purchase for your top marks pass

I am leaving the legal side to the office, main dealer and a tyre place to sort.

The main dealers are no better TYA, the air filter below came out of one of my trucks that had been dealer maintained for the first 100k of its life , how many times was it sent back without them even looking at it?

When you think you've exhausted all search options and go and buy a new one you find a second hand one and it's local too

Been looking for a tailstock barrel off an M300 for many weeks
and gave up hope so sold a kidney and bought a new one from Colchester

Yesterday I had a lead on a SH tailstock and it was less than 20mins from home. Met the guy today and did a deal on it plus some other goodies



Which when unloaded from the boot are in no particular order

Hit the local bootfair today as it was a nice morning and I had done my morning work, and for some reason I started at the bottom of the site rather than the top as normal, walking along i see a bloke showing another guy a photo on his mobile and leaning on a rolled up vinyl thing, I knew instantly it was an inflateable (we have several on the scout site). I asked the price and he said £150 including the blower. its a 4m square bouncy castle (proper industrial one) and the blower is one of the better makes (gibbons for anyone in the know)

So that was good.

Also picked up a couple or 3 mugs for 20p each and a Black and decker workbox (a toolbox with a mini workmate on top) for a £5.
Good little haul me thinks.

A broken boiler and a broken welder. Need to stay in for the boiler fix and take the welder to get fixed. I've not even got any beer in the house..

Rtech fixed it free, boilers sorted. Now i just need to recover from the satnav, radio and ipod not working for the trip... Still no beer though.

I think I might be OK, I've not used it yet and they will take it back subject to a 10% handling charge. Best bit is the complete tailstock cost me less than the handling charge so still quids in

In fact, that lot cost me less than what the new barrel cost by a long way

Working at a house today and the bloke is a welder, so gets talking about welding and tells him that I do a bit for myself.

Asks me if I want this stuff he has laid about.

My BOC branded optrel packed in a few weeks ago and I replaced it with a vega view decent thing but costly, well for occasional use. Couple of batteries in this and it works ok, but the gubbins that goes on the head is not working as it should mask droops too low and doesn't go up enough. Seems over complicated for what it does, tried messing about with it but can't figure it out. Any pointers?

Terrible restored. The shaft is original, there is the name stamped on the lower end of the handle. I will try to save that in the restoration. The head is pitted and some one has taken a grinder to the edge.



Almost a set of weights, one missing.
The weights were in one shop and the base was next door.
So they are now together.

Mini Me Does Coss Play, so I got her this set.



So what did I get Mrs TYA to keep her happy.

I have no idea why they are used in Mini Me costumes. Like why am I making a Saxon style shield.

No need to make one, I have a spare from another set.

Thanks to @skotl for the heads up on a Rapidor, and while I was there I grabbed a pillar drill that was worth a punt. I believe its a Grimston Electriska, not checked the model number. All I know is that its a heavy lump!

Weights might be from a letter scale. An Aunt & Uncle used to run a small, rural Post Office and I seem to remember they had something similar.

I had a set of weights from when my dad ran a grocers shop, they had holes in the bottom filled with lead stamped with a seal which I assume was for calibration?.

Full set now.
It stands out, but is a good match. In shape and stamping.

The could be, but that are in Kg and grams, the larger ones have some writing on them, looks German. But is all I found out so far.
Hence why the replacement is German as well.

Looks like an older speedglass 9002 series or similar, was a common problem the headgear dropping low. I'm sure people put star washers or split washers on the pivot points to grab a bit tighter
