I mate of my dads used to pickup two Disson saws, (xcut amd rip) and drop the same off, freshly sharpened and set, every Weekend
One of the rip saws was 3/4 its original length, and to a piont. It had been sharpened that often.

So theres yrs left in them

Some one with more skills could save the blade. Or money could save it.

Plans are as follows.

Practice more sharpening skills.
Doable.

I have seen a old saw with art work on it.
May do something similar, no plans yet.

The handle is going to used as a pattern, that bit is set.

they arrived today.

had them on 2 hours now, and feel like I'm wearing slippers!

honestly say, probably the best pair of boots I've had for years, if ever!

bought them to get in training - going to do some long distance footpaths (woldsway, dales way, coast to coast), over next 12 months, culminating in Pennine way this time next year. then the south west coast path the following year.

Amazing boots, I have some Nordkapp ones i got when i broke my toe, They were the only thing i could walk any distance in.

Must be the week for axes, saw about a half dozen old ones at a market earlier today. I'm awaiting delivery on a modern bearded side axe I bought off the "bay" on Thursday. I'd like to try hewing a rough log into a beam the old fashioned way, just for fun now that I'm retired.

Nice axe Dennis, looks kind of like a Viking axe ?

Scored some big 'win' today.

Miller Titanium 9400i mask.

What I can find on't 'net shows it to be around the £200 mark.

It's never been used, as you can see still with all its stickers on. Lots of fancy modes.
Only a few people at local auction had any interest, some may have been put off by it not working.
The cause? Dead batteries of course. My suspicions were correct when I had a proper play with it.

Paid £25 after VAT! £5 on two new batteries and it's completely operational.

brand new 325mm chuck d16 and a d18 backlate for my DSG 1810 had to machine the backplate to suit on the lathe .made it undersize first go so had to wel the spigot up and got a good interference fit second time
just getting the feel for the verniers i prefer the mitutoyo ones with the clock than the digi ones any day
tried it with a clock and barely a half thou run out so im happy
the hi speed drive belt was toothless
and i have an oil seal on the input shaft to replace other than that she works well for 3 tons of scrap

I gave it a clean and the only marks i can see are the label on the side, I have a box of bits for old lights and hope this will allow me to convert it to LED for a room here

It is an RLM Crysteel shade. I bought two for the workshop, whack a 150w LED bulb in there (usually around 33w) and they give loads of light!

That's a finnish billnäs axe, they looked like that more or less from the time period 1900-1970.

Mrs TYA has asked me in the stern "Wife Look" no more:
Car boots.
Second hand shops.
Antique shops.
Skips.
Dumping grounds on site.

Until I have sorted the 2 workshops out, she has a point. I was doing ok.

Until today.

I did not get these, They got me.

What has happened is a friends granddad passed on a few months ago. These tools of no use to the family and so they were passed on to me.

But there caveat.

I have had a look at them, most seam to be in good order.
Well one vice has a small bit missing.





8 Hand saws. Some look good. All need some attention.

(incidentally, that B & D you describe as "classic" is the twin of mine , and the small hand drill is identical to one I have, even down to the colours - it belonged to my Dad and still gets used [very] occasionally.)

I’ve got one of those orange ones too. They just don’t die! I bought it second hand to work it hard cleaning the lathe, and it’s done a sterling job so far!

Can I ask what you're going to do with them? Sculpture?

We are using them for teaching aids for scouting and for wildlife and woodland education, to show why we have to control and to make use of as many bits of the animal as possible. These were supplied for a Jamboree I was instructing at last week by HM the Queen's Sandringham estate.

I have plugged in the orange D&D, then fumbled my way to find a torch.
Yes it tripped the breaker. The capacitor has blown.
But I have a spare.

Over the years I have had a few pass through my hands, but could not justify spending money on one.

The hand drills are nice addition to my collection. They are going to be restored/ cleaned and they will be used.



Since I was not car booting today I had some time. I made a start on the tools.
The hammers were cleaned with "Meths" and wire wool. The top 2 hammers have had a coat of Dark Oak wood dye, the lowers ones Light oak.
The lower small claw hammer did have a manufacture label on it, but is was so worn to the point of being a silver sticker.
