No they are as common as muck.

Absolutely none on the bay (as opposed to quite a few nippy's) and only one on Google images. Have you got a few seeing as they're so common?

My dad has a 643 and another similar one that I think is a different model.

They're the only ones I've ever seen.

Constantly lookin for a decent record 75, but none that warrants my budget, but i did find a huge record 25, so my time is occupied for now.

Ok not a vice but an unusual sash cramp with cast aluminium ends plus 2 g clamps.

The 8" record clamp still has its sticker! Going to have to be a very gentle restoration to preserve this!

That style of decal is post 1930 - pre 1960. After that it appeared as just ‘Record’ in a gold box inside the oval.

That's great info, I think this clamp will get minimum restoration. Clean up the threaded part with the grinder & wire brush & a coat of wax over everything to preserve at least 58 years of patina!

I’m planning to do a bit of restoration of decals for my two wood vices. I want the ovals on the front, and the dust excluder info on the steel. Both these can be reproduced with water slide transfer paper. I may be out on the paint colour (Hammerstein blue) but at least the info won’t be lost.

Nicked this image off the net, should be easy to remake the upturned corner, my decals are rusted through

If you’re going to repaint, watch that you have got the rust off. Wire brushes often just polish the rust. A little turps or kero and some wet and dry will let you know. If it’s grey then you’re okay, if it’s brown then you’ve just polished the rust.

Shud i repaint ?
Its clear this has had a neglected life. But i was thinkin shud i leave it and cover it with linseed oil for protection. Not took jaws of yet as the screws are tight and my son has borrowed the blow torch , which i need to heat the outside up, they cum out quite easy that way.

Just acquired this one, unusual one for me, anyone else heard of Vono? I know they do beds but didn't realise they were into vices in the past. I think it was supposed to have some kind of swivel base as the 'fixing holes' are threaded, or just a previous owner mod?

I've got a no.5 that' gradually getting renovated when I get time. It's a few pages back in this thread. Not a quick release one though. That's really rare

Quick release is really smooth, I'm very impressed with the build quality on this one. Any idea on original colour as there is no paint at all on this one

Eh, it’s completely up to you. I think they left the factory painted so the right thing to do is repaint them. Others like waxing, oiling, protective pastes etc. Go wild.

Well i cud go with the blue or black, both super strong enamels.?

Or just go with red oxide which looks pretty good on its own
