better off using the blue 16 amp extension lead and plug with a 13 amp plug on one end
yup correct that's the best optionwhen you say, use blue 16 amp extension lead and plug with a 13 amp plug on one end,
Do you mean just re wire a standard plug to one end of the heavier extension lead and leave the blue 16 amp round socket to plug into the welder lead, yeah?
Cause that sounds the cheapest and handiest

Exactly what I use for my welder. Had the leads and socket from when I had a caravan db and hookup in my old works van. Serves me well in its afterlife. You could get something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/16-amp-extension-hook-up-mains-lead-2-5mm-cable-motor-home-camping-tent-caravan/272346702301?var=571215109552&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIM.MBE&ao=1&asc=20160908110712&meid=fd3811914a0a43dead51b17908d1735a&pid=100677&rk=1&rkt=8&mehot=ag&sd=272346702301&itm=571215109552&_trksid=p2385738.c100677.m4598 you need to look for 2.5mm cable to get the best performance.
Cut mine off. Lead regularly snagged between the two halves and drove me nuts..That lead guide is the greatest add on to an extension lead ever ! Fecking hâte extension leads.
