Today I acquired...........

Wrenches came today, not a bad $3.01 spent! The 14" is Record, the 18" is Ahrems. Quick oil had the working smoothly, I later drilled a hole in the Record handle and hung it up.

It's amazing how cheap stilson wrenches have become! They keep cropping up at my local auction & never make more than £3 or £4 each, even record ones, many with unmarked jaws! I saw the time when well abused ones were making £10! Maybe they've gone out of fashion but in my experience a stilson & a good adjustable are essential items in any toolbox, especially on a tractor.

Naturally enough I've now got quite a collection of them, I just can't resist a bargain. I must gather them up & take a photo.

BTW, none of mine are bored but they will be soon as I've plans to hang them up & free up space in my tool chest.

One of my vices was gummed like that.... A spray with gt85 and a tickle with a big hammer and it had a bent handle and still didn't move. But after using some air and a some thinking I got it going again.

Good news, it is no longer seized.

Bad news, it is in the scrap pile.

Main screw has striped and it has taken out the body thread.

The reason it did not swivel was the body has bean made to fit the base.

But I am keeping the jaws.

Today I stole a drill well not stole but fill like I have the mum had it on Facebook 3 people asked before me price was £15 one person asked if she could do it for 10 the other 2 asked if she could deliver I sent a message can i pop round in the morning to pickup yes that's fine I'm fed up with the people on here messing me around

Turns out it's the person that I got the table off only a week a so ago and showed her the table now she was well impressed

The drill is like brand new bought for putting a few shelves up then chucked in a drawer

I went away a happy bunny

Other half asked how meny hands I got why I replied how meny drills you got now 5 my reply sheepishly why do you need that meny (quick reply) because I can't find one when I'm working if I got that meny spead about I can find one

Went to Lidl to look at those thermal working trousersas they did'nt have many left i ended up buying a soldering iron and a torch, Both work really well infact the torch works so well i was blinded by the light (manfred mann) for about 5 minutes.

Very cheeky of me today, I went back to the gentleman who gave me the red vice In my best diplomatic tones I indicated that the vice was "Passed its sell by date and has gone to pastures new" Then I placed it on the counter.

His reply "Well I'll be ........... Oh well do you want another one?

Want, yes. Need no.

So I took what he offered.



That's, shame the table does not come with it.

I was checking the oil on my daughters car and said do you want to fill up your washer bottle while the bonnets open the reply was no I done it a few days ago I said well just top it up with a little more water the reply was no I use neat screen wash as you can as it's said on the bottle my reply well that's expensive she said not really you got a large bottle on the shelf I use that

Decades ago I was at an estate/garage sale where there was a lot of good stuff going cheap, with a queue with people waiting to pay. I saw this guy standing in line holding a Palmgren rotary indexing table that had X & Y travel. After a couple of minutes fidgeting about, I asked him what he was going to use it for, and he said not sure , so I said I had been looking for one and would give him $10.oo if he would let me buy it; he snatched the money out of my hand faster than a seagull catching a fish, lol. Forty something years later, and I still have the 8" rotary table.
