Yep would be my choice too, was like racing your settee at timesNow you're talking. There's one in Hendersons Garage, Nairn which has been in the showroom there for years - the proprietor has no real intention of selling it. I've seen it in the flesh.....mhhhhhh

i still remember the smell of "fast fords" as they drank their own oil.Just follow any car which has had it's cat removed for extra powaaaah and you can experience the smell any time.
Absolutely stinks, and to think that used to be the normal smell!
Saw one at a car show and asked the bloke 'how much?'
25 he said and I thought mmmm I'm very tempted.
That was until he said thousand!
I worked with a guy who bought a brand new Maestro in the late 90s. Apparently they had originally been shipped somewhere but ended up being built and shipped back here. We all thought he'd lost the plot.
They were the Ledbury Maestro's. Shiiped out to , I think it was the Eastern Bloc somewhere, as CKD's then shipped back by an entreprenuer in Ledbury and assembled from the kits and parts bought off the shelf to convert them to RHD.
Heel pads on the carpets and vanity mirrors for the driver give them away (as well as the registration!).
Still a handful knocking about.
Richard.
Yes they were sold from Parkway Garage. That was part of the story I didn't mention, when I moved to Herefordshire I drove past the garage twice a day commuting into Berkshire. I had no idea until I was discussing it with him one day. He had his in brown too
I still miss these
My first ever car was an SD1 2600 auto. Did 150,000 miles never broke down. Saved my life when I crashed off the M4 at 80mph down a 30ft embankment into a concrete ditch. 80mph to 0 in 0.1 of a second! Not many cars would protect you from that!
I then had the Vitesse twin plenum with British Touring Car suspension. I have yet to drive a car that handled so well - lower than the old mini and wider than a Range Rover.
