It would but if you combined it with my earlier post of http://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/browneuropelimited you get it down to 0.84rpm

VFD with D/C braking???, maybe expensive overkill...... in the recess of my mind I may well have a gearbox or two kicking around, could have now been scraped tho...

Some of the electric wheelchairs have some pretty beefy worm gearboxes in them, ones I've got around are between 30:1 and 22:1 so you could use that as the output stage with some sprockets to reduce the speed before that, can normally pick up the gearboxes fairly cheaply off ebay or repair places

Wotchuneed Woz, is a stairlift motor and gearbox. There are loads of stairlifts on ebay, almost all pick-up only, and they go cheap. Find one near you, and you're away!

Use an old flywheel and the pinion off the starter and make a starting handle to crank it round

Having said that, if a decent sized rotary table happened to become available.......
