That was quite early in the employment, we were forced onto a call out rota yet only I ever got jobs, none of the other employed lads did

I understand that companies may need restrict holidays when too many staff want to be off at the same time. But one company I have seen advertising, stated the holidays as, 2 weeks in August for factory shutdown, Christmas shutdown then what ever is left can be taken when ever, with a maximum of 3 consecutive days.
It was the 3 consecutive days maximum that got me.

Shutting down the factory for 2 weeks saves admin organising hol cover and gives time for proper maintenance.
And it's paid holiday. Haven't seen paid holiday in 15 years...
