Yes, the OSB roofing finished flush with the walls, so I added a 2 x 4 all around the top edge, to get it out over the top of the cladding, when that goes on.

ETA. But now I just remembered I'm putting battens on, before the log lap, so it may not actually go out past the cladding. Damn.....

Working on my workbench while waiting for materials to do other jobs. Plans are two layers of OSB topped by plywood, laid inside the frame I'm building.

Couple more uprights to go in, plus shelves.

Starting to put the top woods into my frame, offcuts and leftovers of OSB, going well.....and then I found I'd made the usual, predictable, guaranteed-on-every-job cockup, somehow I multiplied 18 x 3 and got 52....
So now the top layer will be proud of the 'rim' by 2mm. Every time, two steps forward, one back.

I guess I could cheat and use 5/8" plywood instead of the two sheets of 3/4" I bought for the job.

It (life) will get you, no matter how you plan things . Personally, I'd stick with the 3/4" you have as it be the stronger of the two for when BFH is inevitably called to serve at some future, indeterminate time.

Yep, I decided to use it, and with a small bevel on the edge it looks pretty good actually. Still needs screwing down, it’s sprung a bit high here.

My battens and ceiling plywood just arrived, so that’s tomorrow sorted.

I still have my unfinished hot rod at my dads place, so once things are set up and sorted in my workshop and front garage, I guess the rod needs attending to.

I’m thinking of painting the walls, but maybe varnish the bench and ceiling. The plywood ceiling is such a nice hardwood finish it would be a shame to paint over it. A pale cream on the walls I think, try to get that old time ‘classic’ workshop look.

Of course, in six months it will look like a bomb has gone off, with spray dust, welding and grinding dust, oil, burn marks......

I bought a Chevy Vortec 350 last year with the idea of bringing the piston count up, but I doubt the chassis and running fear would handle the weight and power. I shall save it for another project.

Busy busy today, put the battens on the back wall, as well recommended by @gaz1, then screwed up the plywood. I wasn't going to bother with battens but it makes sense, another layer of security against damp and drops etc.

It looks a bit prettier out back now.

Then I got real industrious and cut and shut all the 10mm ply for the ceiling, stuffed it full of insulation, whacked a few screws in, job's a good 'un.

Definitely a lot quicker to describe than do....but I was determined to get it finished today rather than have to drag on until tomorrow.

Now I'm knackered, time for some beers tonight.

by the way wrong type of batten i was on about

you need an air gap from front to back via the roof air needs to move above the frames

the battern im on about is the one after the fascia board is on to push the felt further out by 1" therefore water drops directly into the guttering

you will see by this pic

as goes for wood blocks for the boards dosnt it make it easier but fitting that insulation seemed a bit of hard work doing it your way
