I never use normal sockets, I use flank drive sockets, they will get most nuts off that a regular socket won't and don't damage the nut

If it was just a 13mm would a flare nut spanner not have worked?

It might, I haven't yet tried decent ones but cheapish ones I have tried are worse than useless and wouldn't have done that.

I've a set of AF spanners that are years old and have obviously worn a bit, the 1/2" is a great fit on worn 13mm heads, 5/16" is good on 8mm as well.

Probably worth replacing the idlers just now too.

And the water pump and thermostat if they hide in there too - cheap enough to replace and peace of mind you'll probably ever need to go back in there again.

I have a well worn 1/2 inch single hex snap on spanner that is very good on 8 mill bolt heads (13 mm )

A lot of the heads on those OEM fastners are slightly tapered, probably saves a millisecond to fit the power wrench to it in production, those milliseconds x houry labour rates soon add up

Someone chucked out a 6 sided long ring spanner and 13mm long reach socket as they were well worn and they fit 1/4 Whitworth perfect so now they live in my box of spanners and sockets i can butcher

On the second thread, ive had a genuine pendulam bush that was too loose in the hole.

SNG sent me another and it was fine

Still need to get around to putting it all back together
