would a slightly erratic wire feed cause this issue.
firstly when i say erratic, i mean consistent but not smooth. Think of it like this, a good weld bead is a dash. Instead of ______________________ mine goes ....................
the weld as a result is high, thin and useless.
I at first thought bad earth, checked the plug, the leads at both ends, then inside i used compressed air to clean it and checked every connection. The only connections that had a bit of give where the female plug connectors in the machine, i nipped these up and all tight.
exact same issue so i ran the wire without the pressure clamp down on the roller at all and notices the sound of the wire feed roller was as if under load.. i prised the wire feed mechanism apart to take a look at the cogs inside but nothing looks badly worn.
The roller looks good too but as i said the sound ................. is there with no pressure on the rollers.
I am using a good roll of wire with no rust and a brand new bottle of gas.
Do you think im on the right track and its a new wire feed i need. i cant think what else to check.
