It does look a tad grubby.
I did yes with a stanley blade.Did you clean the grooves between the commutator segments?
From memory some came from a local now closed Auto electrical place as he got a better trade discount than me. Cant find much about them on line, very well made and much cheaper. No idea what Bowmotors are like these days? After messing about with it for a few more hours it still don't spin. Time for a bowmotor me thinks. @winchman where do u get your iskara motors from

I am not even using a solenoid yet, I was just testing the motor with Jump cablesThey are wired up a bit weird, I have never understood the wiring on winch motors. Are you using the correct winch relay pack?

that is correct live to F1 the a jumper from F2 to A to turn one way then live to F2 and jumper from F1 to A to turn the other way.Looking at the wiring diagram it looks like it needs two lives for forward and two for reverse with ground to the case, I have no clue which way around they go.

I took a bit longer than I thought to write my reply and 123hotchef beat me to itthat is correct live to F1 the a jumper from F2 to A to turn one way then live to F2 and jumper from F1 to A to turn the other way.
all the solenoid does is switch the lives around so you can winch in and out.
