who owns a oscillating multi tool - what do you use it on?

I've got the Parkside 20v Lithium Multi tool, quick release blade change and never had one come loose.

I was going to buy the Milwaulkee M12 version when my Parkside one dies but it's put up with all sorts over the years and still going strong.

When it comes to buy a new one I'll have to look closely at blade changes as that can make or break a tool for me.

I doubt you'll be buying the Milwaukee then, blade change is pants on them.

Can’t be doing with multiple platforms though. Does my head in. So just got to put up with it.

I had a Fein multitool, It was very useful for cutting all sorts of stuff & awkward jobs. Then one day it blew up, proper loud pop & jet of sparks out of the back of it. Got it fixed & the capacitor had blown. A year and a half later it happened again that time giving me quite a belt as it expired. I opened it up & the capacitor was blown. I threw it away.
My Dad gave me his one that he had bought a year before. A few years later that one went pop in the same way. Neither of those tools had seen a huge amount of use. I dont buy fein tools anymore!

It’s a stupid finger screw thing. You are supposed to just nip it up and it takes it the rest of the way on a cam lever. It doesn’t work and vibrates it loose.

I just leave the cam where it is and bang it up with a screwdriver. It really annoys me.

I don't have any issues with mine
Mine has a slot on the screw, perfect to nip it up with another blade (which you'd have right there, unlike an Allen key)

I picked up the screwfix own brand jobbie, seems a pretty good tool. Great for those fiddly cuts you just can't get anything else in.

They're one of those tools that you don't realise you need until you get one , and then you wonder how you lived without it.

Took me ages to convince myself I needed one.
Once I got it, it found all kinds of uses. Even use it as a detail sander.
Makes light work of cutting out holes for electrical back boxes too.

I went with a Bosch starlock for mine, pay a touch more for blades, but they don't seem to make junk starlock, as the majority are either Bosch or Fein.

they were the 1st to bring out a multitool and cost hundreds .all leading brands make them now a lot cheaper and are good quality. cant go wrong with the 18volt dewalt 95 quid bare machine

I can't remember the brand: screwstation + beenNqueued sell them as a pack for about £25??? Green + black packaging.

That's really wierd, because I've genuinely never had a problem with mine.

The erbauer one, however.
Had to use a M10 washer to grip the blades. Which nipped my fingertips every time I flipped the lever to tighten it. And it was LOUD. and made my hands numb. And got HOT.

@bigegg perhaps mine and James's were a Friday afternoon special! Out of interest how long have you owned yours for? Just wondering if it is a newer/older incarnation. Mine will be 3 in May. I have persisted on with it as if I do it up tight and then lock it I get a reasonable run before it goes all loose wibbley again. It is really annoying if you are doing something that needs to be neat!

Mine has always done it, I originally thought it was me and actually ended up reading the instructions

That is interesting maybe they have improved them, when this one gives up I will buy another hopefully that will hold the blade!
On the back of this I may send Milwaukee an email and see what they have to say!
