It loks like the green spot thermal switch is rated at 130degC, and the one without the spot is 106degC. The first pair in Country Joe's link is compatible with the TCM65A dryer.

The replacement switches have to be fitted to the correct positions i.e. the orange wires go to the thermal switch with the green dot.

I mean, from what I can read of the part code, it looks identical.

That's the one, but they seem to come in pairs.
It won't seem so bad if you assume the other one would fail soon anyway!

I'd even tried to see if there was anything legible on the original photo posted on here.
And until I went back to the "pricier" web-page, and saw more info - I thought @voipio must have seriously good eyesight!

Thank you all for your help with this one. It really is appreciated to have people to be able to discuss these things with.

I can't think my partner's eyes would have stayed focussed on me for very long at all if I started trying to discuss dryer schematics and thermal fuses with her!

Check the Hotpoint website. There has been a MASSIVE recall on faulty tumble driers. Yours may be one affected. Be prepared for a fight to replace it though.

Id be surprised if there is much of a fight, they immediately offered me a replacement machine for £50 when they were recalling them a few years ago, as the one I had was ancient I jumped at the chance!

zombie thread, back from the dead -

was sick of this one, and, as we were coming into summer, it got left...


Id replaced the stats, and it worked... for a bit, and then failed again. But the stats were still good when tested. Kind of like my initial red herring before they broke.

Then it worked again... Then it didnt. Then the stats tested bad again.

Anyhow, of course - sticking (intermittent sometimes sticking on, sometimes off) relay on the control board. I replaced all three, and the stats again, and its working. I assume it will continue working now (until another part of it breaks) as im pretty sure thats it for this problem.

Incase you have any more problems in the future with the heaters not working, there is a small reservoir and pump with a float switch that fills up the removable water tank. If the pump fails, the float switch stops the heaters working. Our machine had a rubber impellor which had perished. It's an indesit so not the same machine but may be a similar design

there are lots of re badged Beco ones that have a terrible record of starting fires !
mine randomly blew the supply smoothing capacitor ,was like a sticky flypaper and foil explosion . According to the helpline mines was after the known dodgy ones ,but my replacement bought on line was a very beefed up metalcase job , so how many still out there in ?use

Just found this.

My neighbour had one, sometimes would heat up, others not.
I traced it down to a cut off/out switch on the back of the machine. Jokingly called over load switch.
It would trip, swiped it out. Machine still going strong.
