The thing with that Kemppi is that yes, £750 maybe looks expensive, but it's a machine that should last you a long, long time, and unless you're doing some heavy structural stuff you'll never feel the need to upgrade. It's the max you'll get on a 16 amp 240v mains anyway. But the real beautiful thing is, it'll still be worth £500 in 6-7 years.
What is your absolute budget? There's a Kemppi MinArc MIG EVO 200 in the classifieds for 750. I have one and it's a fantastic machine, especially for learning on. Simple as selecting the material and pulling the trigger. Price is not the cheapest but for quality and ease of use the machine is a dream.

These were done right after getting the machine having never really used a MIG before.
With your budget in mind I wold strongly suggest going to machinemart and taking a look at the Clarke welders. When I wanted to start welding I quickly got sucked into comparing specs in adverts on eBay and its a slippery slope. You need something simple to use with warranty and local spares/consumables, the Clarkes are basic but pretty good for the money especially with machinemart VAT free days and they sometimes have shop soiled ones in store.
I started with a Clarke, learnt to weld using it rather than jumping to the do everything Inverter. Once I was confident and felt I was pushing the machine I chose to upgrade and sold the Clarke for good money, I went for the ESAB Rebel which is a do it all self driving welder but cost 5 times more than the Clarke.
I have given them the offer of mine as i have a brand new one in a box and will let go for 350 as a one off on here. Purchased last week by mistake and so I will take the hit.
Of course the R-tech is loaded with a big mark up to fund thier finance offers. So its a less than great comparisonHey All,
I am still looking and have taken everything on board that everyone has said.
I just question why people say what they say :-)
But when comparing a welder that cost about £250 and then being advised that for 'a little bit more' you can get an R-tech welder (£480) doesn't
really compute.
Will keep you posted when I finally make the dive... Hopefully I find a good welder for a good price.
Just like to mention about those MnM invitation free tax, but you got to remember you need to spend £50 first just hope you aware of this..
I'm confused by this, what do you mean?
Press it as now on here I think they are married to each other not for me I'm afraid.Thread tidied, play nicely, I have a pre mod button here just waiting to be pressed.
