As some of you may know I work as a sculptor in between my day job and I'm thinking about getting a vehicle which has a bit more load capacity than my current Fiesta, which although a great car isn't ideal for hauling big chunks of metal around.
I've always quite fancied getting a Landrover, not so much for off road capability as use as a small truck. Of course vans and pickups are other options but I do quite like the idea of a landy, for no other reason than the fact that I just like them and I think that their layout would actually suit my needs better than either a van or pickup.
On my budget I'm probably looking at getting a project vehicle. I'm reasonably used to doing work on cars, (although not an expert by any means) and I'm pretty well set up for welding. Ideally I'd like something pretty cheap that I could fix up in my spare time without spending a fortune on parts.
I'd be happy to run it as a second vehicle for use as needed for heavy jobs so cost of ownership is probably the bigger issue that cost per mile, I don't do that much mileage anyway.
So any thoughts on landrover ownership ?
