No doubt some will think that children should never begiven corporal punishment for the child's misdemeanors , but lets be honest we are no more than a branch of the animal kingdom and there the parent often cuffs or fights off an errant offspring so the off spring knows it has reached the threshold of loving caring parental tolerance .True though. We'd have never behaved like that because we were raised properly, & if we had behaved like that, we wouldn't have dared go home. Even the rough 'uns would get their arses kicked by their parents, if they passed certain thresholds.
There's cheek!I was usually late getting to school and one morning the Vice Principal while giving me a late slip said
” My morning wouldn’t be complete without seeing you here “ so I was late after lunch on purpose and when he saw me I said “ I decided to make your afternoon too “ he gave me a detention!
Detention was where I learned to write poetry with my friends, however, it was not the kind you would recite to your mother.I was usually late getting to school and one morning the Vice Principal while giving me a late slip said

…Spent the rest of the year cutting it into manageable piecesNot when I were a lad but not really that long ago trees were cut down with hand saws. Took thirteen days to fell this monster. Does make you wonder what the hell they did with it once it was on the floor.

That reminds me of this Far Side cartoon:Not when I were a lad but not really that long ago trees were cut down with hand saws. Took thirteen days to fell this monster. Does make you wonder what the hell they did with it once it was on the floor.

A mate of mine reckoned that one of the shoe shops in town put the left shoe outside on the display rack & one put the right. I never looked to see if that was correct or notWhen I were a lad I could go to the shop with a pound note and come back with a pair of shoes, a shirt and pants. You can't now, too many bl00dy cameras
Great picture but almost sad in a wayNot when I were a lad but not really that long ago trees were cut down with hand saws. Took thirteen days to fell this monster. Does make you wonder what the hell they did with it once it was on the floor.

They and their descendants spent the rest of their lives shredding the tree into pulp,... Does make you wonder what the hell they did with it once it was on the floor.
I'm loving that ladder very rustic!
My guess is they’d cross cut it to length and then use explosive wedges to split it in half and then quarters. Not when I were a lad but not really that long ago trees were cut down with hand saws. Most likely a Giant Sequoia, or perhaps a Redwood. Not when I were a lad but not really that long ago trees were cut down with hand saws. Took thirteen days to fell this monster. Does make you wonder what the hell they did with it once it was on the floor.
