Looks to me like the bill payers over ride. Restricts the temperature no matter how much the Mrs twiddles the knob
or did I dream that!
squirt it with wd40 and roger the pin in and out with pliers and a bit of a turn there spring loaded and sieze unless it leaks that normaly fixes them . just done a few of mine. they dont like been left for years un alteredI suspect the valve needs replacing but if that dial was turned in too far would it restrict flow completely? And can i wind it out too far if playing with it?
On this rad, the thermostat seems to have failed in the very off position - i.e. even if set on 5 there is no way the pin on the rad can open and i think in turn the pin has got stuck.
It's to set the high limit temperature of the valve, usually used with vulnerable people
I have a feeling the other end is fully open. Flow is minimal - the rad gets tepid at best. I have tried the wiggling in and out but it seems it wont come any further out than it currently does (fairly closed). Hence the question about whether there was actually some adjustment via that black disc - compared to some of the other rads in the house that disc looks pretty wound in.I would fully close the other end, counting the turns, so you can put it back. Then wind it fully open, then see if starts to-warm up/ flow. If not wiggle the pin in and out. If you get it going, let it flow a while then put the other end back
Yeah. Pinged it up and down a fair few times. It will move fine but its travel upwards seems limited.Have you tried pushing it down with the side of a pair of pliers? There's a fairly heavy spring in them that you can't push down with your fingers.
have a look at another one .see if the pin sticks out further. screwed down it turns off fully out its fully openYeah. Pinged it up and down a fair few times. It will move fine but its travel upwards seems limited.
Im sure i have had this one off and flushed it in the past. Thats not to say there isnt more in there. It bleeds ok.Sediment in the radiator, or perhaps air
So just to check - if i wind the black dial out fully will it come out and the valve pop out with water everywhere??It only moves a few mm .. as long as it moves up and down the valve should function
Turn the black ring fully out iirc for max flow
Assuming the valve moves the head can be replaced … older wax filled heads do occasionally fail
