As far as I know there is no direct connection between the black bit and the pin. All the black bit does is limit the amount you can adjust the temp control knob.
At least I think that’s how it works!
Well. I wound the dial out. Flow pipe is hot to the valve. Not much flow after. If I turn off either side of the rad the bleed flows well and stops if i turn off both sides. So that suggests flow and return are clear, heat is getting to the rad but nothing flows through it.

If you shut off all the other radiators, does it then get really hot?

Would you still expect it to bleed if air locked?
The whole system is a bit of a mess of a mix of microbore (which is routed very carelessly) to 15mm somewhere before most of the rads but not all. In spring, there are a few issues to sort out when we can drain the system for a few days and this rad is just one of them so it may have to wait until then.

I would have thought turning all the other rads off would shift an air lock unless there’s a bypass somewhere, towel radiator?
