There is always one who has to drag the thread down ...I’m just surprised this post hasn’t degenerated to having your oats in the morning, there must be something wrong
When i lived in Aberdeen it was always full fat milk which was quite sweet and salt and it tasted fine, none of this skimmed milk rubbish !Oats & milk, with a light sprinkle of demerara sugar, and topped off with ice cold semi-skimmed milk.
I usually have a bowl full most days, but I'm not Scottish that I know of.![]()
I use to drink full fat milk and use Half & Half on my cereals, what you call single cream here in the UK. I stopped a few years ago and decided less fat in my diet would be healthier. When i lived in Aberdeen it was always full fat milk which was quite sweet and salt and it tasted fine, none of this skimmed milk rubbish !
Shurley Shome Mistake !Heathens, heathens I say, the lot of you, porridge is only fit for feeding to the pigs!
Civilised folk have toast and marmite.
Shurley Shome Mistake !
Pain au Chocolat or croissont et Avec where you live !

50g porridge oats.
5 teaspoons powdered milk.
Stick it in a flask with some boiling water when I get up in the morning.
leave to stand for a couple of hours in the flask.
At brew time add a spoonful of jam or chocolate spread or whatever else is knocking around, and a chopped banana and give it a stir.
Delicious hot porridge with no work, to be eaten wherever I happen to be.
Have that pretty much every day at morning brew time - Yummy.
Remember the advert where the kids had the "Sellafield Glow" from their Readybrek ?Readybrek plus powered milk - pour hot water from kettle - stir and eat.
Readybrek is the same as porridge oats - just milled finer.
