Inability to drive away and go somewhere more interesting than a field. A must if you are staying longer than a weekend.
We have an awning and a 3m x2m 'drive-away' attachment but, possibly because it is old, it is very difficult to get back into position.

not sure what an ac is but it is the interior of the same ambulance but without the stretcher which came with it, apparently worth £1000's been offered 500

You could probably make a few bob by offering the unwanted ambulance bits to Red Cross, St. John or MSA rescue ambulance operators?

Ambulances seem are good base vehicles, as they generally have lighting / split charging / heating etc.
...but in the case of my ambulance, all of the above was so outdated that it all got replaced anyhow, so it may not be so much of a bonus after all.
If you get a unit with a working eberspacher and a decent split charge system / batteries, thats about £300 saved though, just in that.

I have not seen it menitioned yet but check out Glen-l at http://www.glen-l.com/glen-l-rv-plans/ there mainly boat people but they did do some self built rv type stuff

Ooo, that crossing should make my butt squeak a bit! I wonder what persuaded the first guy it was worth a crack and did the next lad think of turning chicken with the tire track erosion excuse?

Have a look about - there's plenty of vids of them doing similar stuff.
They're soviet era. As i recall, the first two subs, Nautilis (usa), and K2 (soviet) - K2 could go faster, deeper, longer, etc. but leaked radiation.
I watched an interview with one of the crew once - he said it did not bother them, they just drank more vodka.

Brings back memories of the Commers that my Dad drove for Humberside Libaries back in the 70's, noisy, no power, a small butane heater that would freeze the gas between the bottle in its outside locker and the tiny little fire. By the time he retired in the mid 80's they were built on to Ford Cargos which were a big improvement, noe of the Cargos was the first large ish vehicle that I drove, between Beverley West Wood and Market Weighton if memory serves me right.
We did see one of the Commers converted to a horse box, the other spent years in the council compound at Beverley slowly rotting away.
I expect the modern ones are a much better propect for conversion to a 'RV'.
A Routemaster? They start at about £30k!

Double deckers are not much good in europe too many low bridges Decker is 4.38 metres (14 ft 4 in) most HGVs run at 4 metres 13 ft 1 it's only in the uk that we run up to 16ft trailers
