Hi,
Don't all scream 'idiot' at me. But i bought a ROHR inverter MIG/MAG-135A. It looks well made and shiny. The positives stop there. I bought it off amazon (i know!!) advertised as a 'gasless' MIG. I chose that because it was cheap it said it did what i wanted it to do (Gasless MIG) i have never picked a welder up before so i figured, "what the hell how bad can it be. I will be much crapper than it is"! I've done some research and i now know i need flux core wire to run gasless. I've also establish today that i need (advisable) to swap the polarity to get the heat in the item not in the wire. That's where the problems start.
1) i can't swap the polarity cos it's hard wired!?
2) It has a gas supply nozzle on the rear and feeds to the handset!?
3) On the front it has a symbol that says No Gas, but it has a cross through it? Does that mean it is or isn't gasless??
4) when i read the instructions it says make sure the gas is connected!!!
5) the description on amazon clearly says 'gasless' but on the union mart ltd website who manufacture it, they have 4 MIG welders advertised 2 are 'GAS/GASLESS' and 2 (of which mine is one) are described as MIG flux wire welders.
Now to me that suggest a Flux wire welder ONLY does gasless, if that's the case why does it have a gas supply port and why do the instructions tell me to connect the gas!! And if it does both i need to be able to swap the polarity!!?? i'm baffled!
I've e mailed union mart to see what they have to say, but i can feel a return coming on!
