heres a good vid telling you about taps
Well, they were in the stores and I did need to tap an M6 hole once, so it seemed rude not to grab a full setI’ve got a stack of decent make “normal” taps that I had from work so I’m ok for a while.
"had". I think we all know what you mean.

that's all I ever buy from them to make sets upTracey tools do reasonable quality taps and dies for not silly money. I used some of their carbon steel taps and they went through stainless steel like butter.
Seconded......I have Hall, Presto, Dormer, Goliath, Totem, had a set of ME taps once (sold them on due to lack of use) from Tracey Tools, good quality taps. Only buy second hand when I can check what they're like (autojumble car boot etc)Do some 316 and you will soon know if a tap has lost its edge. A sharp tap will go in with little effort and will hear a kind of sizzle as you go, a blunt tap will need quite a bit of force to turn it and will bind as you are cutting and that is when you snap them.
Cannot believe know one has heard of Rennie tool co been reading there website and the have been in business generations seems like a solid company checked there eBay shop and they have sold 2000plus taps alone and they are a couple of quid cheaper and made in Manchester I think there basedGoliath. That's one I'd forgotten in my list. Hall sounds familiar too.
Been scanning through there website and they was building tools during the war work with castrol there appears to be a bit if history with this companyNope. Never heard of them.
You can always do a review of them if you order some.
lolYou know you're going to order them, so just order them.![]()
Have used OSG and LMT and not impressed with either but that is just my opinion and my work is mainly stainless so you may find differently.Just been looking for some new taps Walter, OSG, Emuge and LMT were the makers that kept
popping up
got intouch with rennie co and they said that the taps are not made direct through them but bought from far east as a budget tap he said that they are not as good as presto, cannot get fairer then that he could of said they are the best on market. You know you're going to order them, so just order them.![]()
