what price should a boxford lathe c3? be

offered a boxford c3 (i think) lathe with some tooling , the seller has no idea on price nor do I ,what would baseline be for one with no frills/tooling etc, as I dont know what it comes with, any advice wecomed and appreciated, I have seen it run ,single phase (conversion?) on a 3 pin plug.

Certainly a boxford but not metric or imperial, think that is a Model T as no lead screw etc. They were used as a training lathe I believe.

Should be cheaper to buy than a threading lathe.

Why? Does that not depend on the price and what the lathe is required for? If it is cheap enough and serves the purpose, it could be worth it?

Probably Imperial, but difficult to judge I think @Bsmith was referring to its lack of lead screw (I must admit I had not clocked that!)

dont know only had a glance and took the pics , it was after I left he said ok it could be available...at the time I was there it wasnt!

Definitely a model T. Of limited value, although even these have sold for stupid prices recently. Give it a miss.

if its real cheap and not a knacker get it bought clean it up and sell it on for a profit and get the use out of it till a better one comes along

Without knowing what is included it's not easy to say. As a basic machine with just a chuck and toolpost I wouldn't want to pay more than £100 for it. But I have a vey well equipped AUD so I've been spoiled. If you just want a machine to make some metal round it's a starting point.
