I've been out of that game for 22 years. Sorry.does that mean I will get good price from you ...?
whats m20?Not for M20, many many many failures.
As above really, Dayco are not of the quality they used to be. On my own vehicles I've always fitted genuine belt kits, for the sake of a few quid, the warranty 'if it fails' would cover the consequential damage.
So how does that work,? The stipulation is that these kits are used/fitted by qualified personnel…As above really, Dayco are not of the quality they used to be. avoid skf, i've heard a few horror stories

Im not saying your unqualified….you may be, and a good mechanic to boot….
Im happy doing my own,coz I can underwrite any damage incurred….but if it was someone else’s motor then I wouldn’t do it in case there was any comeback….

thats a common thing on l200s and people slap a gasket on and flog it quickI think you would need to question why, and also why a replacement head gasket was needed in the first place. A lot of head gaskets get changed (normally because of a cooling system failure cooking the engine) and fail again because of a distorted head surface, head gets resurfaced/new gasket and that fails because the block face is shot. There is normally a very good reason multiples of gaskets fail. I swear by Victor Reinz gaskets, use them on all my rebuilds and have never seen one fail.
Bob
did the last one , head skimmed ,everything tightened as per etc, ran for 3 years and never lost a drop , hammered ,sat in traffic mid summer, gauge never moved , even towing a loaded ifor at max weight , geussing it depends if a proper job is done in the first place . flew through every mot. interesting about INA.cheersLong time lurker on here mainly for tig ideas. In motor trade 30yrs.
I think most of the timing belt kit manufacturers have cheapened out now, are pulling from the one bin of chinese components, the only make
I fit aftermarket is INA if available , as we do mainly Vw/audi the components are similar quality if not same.
With water pumps its O.E. only, I've yet to find an aftermarket pump that closely resembles an OE even of the same manufacturer.
Most OE belt kits are not that expensive for what you get, its just that the aftermarket junk is soo cheap now, if you go back 20 years gates belt kits were anything but cheap.
As for the mitsubishi head gasket - good luck - it wont be a long term job without the block skimmed, you will find imperfections on
the deck so worth finding them before money is spent on head or parts.
So, after a lay off just getting back to this , looks like I will be going INA...but the only ones that have it in stock I can find are partsin motion ! now on your advice @premmington it seems I should be steering clear of these if I understand the above correctly ..hmmmOnly SKF cambelt kits I have ever seen in all these years - were customer supplied from AutoDoc.
These not common in UK (SKF kits). Parts in Motion sell them.
But to be honest - AutoDoc and Parts in Motion - they are the online/faceless bit of the parts supply chain...
You are looking for trusted motor factors in big buying groups of the likes "PDP/GroupAuto/Alliance/Rapid/Temot/CAAR" when sourcing parts for vehicles.
as a matter of interest , where did you buy your gates ones ?cheersIna or Dayco for me. I’ve had 2 gates kits fail on me. Really don’t rate them anymore.

From memory both were from ecp, both times it was a tensioner fault both times. Same engines done many times before by myself using other makes and never a problemas a matter of interest , where did you buy your gates ones ?cheers
