What is this tye of clip called

Some interesting selections there, thanks. Whichever of these tools I eventually buy, I am sure it will mean that I never have to remove any of these clips ever again. It can sit in my "talisman" cupboard alongside the wheel bearing puller kit that I bought for a fault that turned out to be a tyre, fortunately discovered before attempting to swap the wheel bearing.

I used to hate them when I was using water pump pliers etc, but those clips are pretty nice once you have suitable tools to open them. I find that hose clips can work loose over time and finding decent quality ones now is a chore, whereas these stay clamped and just work. I keep some in a storage bin to retrofit to other stuff now as a result.

I put them on and off using mole grips, adjust them to clamp on the 3 ends when inline, slip the clip on and release,

I'm sure they have lots of names in various places but I know them as Spring Hose Clamps. Yours are Flat Spring Hose Clamps, there are also (as you would know) Wire Spring Hose Clamps.

The Knipex 85 51 250 A (and variations) handles both.

I bought something like this set a few years ago, I had to put another crimp on the cable but otherwise all good, they get DIY intensity use ie. not every day but more than enough to have paid for themselves many times over & not so much that I regret not having spent more. If one breaks & I can't fix it I'd consider buying a recognised brand but for the money I paid I'm v happy.

Just to update this, I've been using this kit over the last couple of days as the Audi has another coolant leak, and they've saved me a lot of time over fighting with slip-jaw pliers or mole grips. There was one item that I couldn't figure out the use for, turns out it's for pushing hoses off beaded pipe ends and it made short work of removing the fuel pipes. Thanks again for the link.

Glad that worked for you. Odd coincidence; the most frequently used pair in my kit failed today! Normal wear& tear - the pawl is v. worn & won't engage to keep them locked open. But hey, that's after five or more years of moderate use, I'm not complaining I knew that I was buying a cheap set & wasn't expecting top quality. I wasn't sure just how useful I'd find them & had the set been more expensive I'd probably still be struggling with normal pliers etc.
Now that I know how much time & effort they save I'll buy a better pair to replace the broken ones.

They're like CV boot clips, but much smaller, and fitted around various vacuum hoses on the TT. I've removed them and replaced with jubilee or similar clips, but they're a bit big in some places.

The main reason I want the proper name is so I can research the proper way to unclip them. Because they're often on plastic fittings, I'm a bit nervous about applying too much pressure like I would to remove a CV boot clip. And the "tail" isn't always accessible to flick up.

I looked at O clips because someone else talked about ordering some for some air lines, but they seemed to have two "ears" and be fixed rings, though the link does show both types.

They are not reusable, you usually cut them to release them. They are usually called "stepless ear clamps".

Cheers, I wasn't expecting to be able to re-use them, just to figure out how to remove them from a small plastic fitting without putting too much pressure on and potentially breaking it. As it happens I got away with the two I had to remove in the job I've just done.

^ And now I've watched the video, it turns out that one of the mystery items in the hose clamp pliers kit that I bought from a link posted on here a couple of weeks ago is intended for fitting ear clamps (thought I'd normally just use pincers on a CV boot clip), and may have a bit for cutting them too - I didn't think to look during the recent job even though I used some of the other bits. Cutting does seem to be the accepted way to remove them, so maybe the tool will do that better than side clippers, if it has a "removing" part too.

Mine have a dedicated cutting function for clip removal.

I have some nail pincer style cutters for them & for crimping too I got with a bundle of these clamps as a kit.
But if the barb is particulary fragile looking (ie its attached to a expensive sensor etc), I've been known to slit the crimped saddle with a dremmel with a cutoff wheel in it. If you cut the saddle it sits proud of the pipework etc so you dont nick the pipe too.

^ I was concerned that the clip would be stronger than the thing it was securing when I was trying to remove some last week, but I got away with it. It just led me to wonder what the "official" way was. I considered the dremel-a-like, but one of them was very close to the body of the plastic thing, so I'd have had to find the part-worn cutting disc that I've kept for just such an occasion rather than use a new one.
