Not melted like pieces of white ear wax! The tubs show what should have happened (ie nothing, they survived 15psi / ≈121ºC).

Are the tops LDPE and not PP? LDPE melts at 110'c

Yeah the tops are not PP as advertised sadly. Did not survive.

I would pour culture dishes under a flow hood for culturing mushrooms but don’t have one (or the skill for a SAB) so this way you pour unsterile and then sterilise afterwards. You get more condensation issues but it requires less kit - of which I lack a lot l of like microscope, flow hood and glassware.

Next test will be same idea but use UVC and O3 to do the sterilisation.

My router table.
Spindle has seized on it, and I suspect wiped out the motor going by the magic smoke that appeared when it slowed down.

I suspect a new table will be the quickest repair option, as I've got a couple big orders that I need done before the end of the month.

NOT ME who broke it.

This egg Beater drill was not destined to be saved.
I knew the main drive wheel was bent.

But they wanted to try.

So it was stripped down and the main gear was examined and it was found out that the main gear was found out to be 5mm out of shape in twoplaces.

Google advised to heat it and tease back into shap.
That will work well for ferrous metal, but not a vey soft alloy.


Bing and curse words.


So what next?


It was broken for spares.
We saved:
The chuck.
The 2 pinnion gears.
Top handles.

The frame will be used as an instructioin guide to paint alloy metals.

I guess I broke the evolution whacker plate by default, once upon a time in front of my mate I used a small cordless drill to wing over an old lawnmower on the crank nut when the pull start broke, so all this time later just to impress me my mate decided to start the whacker plate the same way he used the dewalt 18v 1/2" drive impact gun and bingo he broke the end off the crank, the crank looks like ut is cast Iron

I've used drills, mains and battery to start small engines, but never tried using an impact driver and now I won't as you've proved it's not a good idea.

I tried it on chainsaws and it just uncrews the flywheel nut.

After a quickmlook at the whacker plate today I think the engine is a cheap Chinese 2.4 hp thing but looks the same footprint as a honda 3.6 hp I have in storage so it might get fixed

Try using a ratchet adapter it allows the engine to rev without undoing the nut due to the drag of the drill.

You pull a saw anticlockwise to start it. Same direction that loosens the flywheel nut!

not broke but was having issues getting a stihl chainsaw that had been lying for a bit started, I thought it would be a good idea to take the fuel line off the carb and give a little blast of the airline, with fuel in it, and the cap still on I created a bloody petrol fountain!!
have since realised the fuel line has cracked/perished near the carb side so hopefully that's the issue

I needed a strap wrench socket to loosen an almost rounded off pipe fitting in a recess.

Ordered online on Monday, and it turned up today. Gleefully unpackaged it and got out the ratchet and extension bar, set it all up, and started taking the strain, when SNAP. What is the point of selling things like this ? Admittedly it was cheap, but only wanted for the one job. Looks like the strap was sewn with cotton

May I suggest you get about three times the length of new BIO fuel resistant fuel line . Older lines have a nasty habit of rupturing if they go through the saw body or where they go over the spigot in the carb .

If it does go through the body perhaps cut a 3 inch long scarf cut through the pipe so you can thread the thinnest end easily it through the body and pull it through the body to the correct length with snipe nosed pliers .

Not today but Thursday, I went to use my power probe 3 only to find it was dead, haven’t had a chance to have a look at it yet , hopefully a broken lead but if it’s anything to do with the electronics I haven’t a clue
