I don't see anyone complaining about Miele washing machines (As you'd hope, given the price!).
According to the guy who services our white goods all of the washing machines at the cheaper end of the market are much the same, many made in the same factory & are only designed to last a couple of years. Bosch were a step up in quality but even they are now not much better than the cheap ones.
He said Miele are the only one designed for years of hard use but that's reflected in the price!

I was given it by a mate 8 years ago or more after it had spent some time in his back garden when his PE teaching girlfriend moved in with him and there was nowhere to put it - it had had a hard life washing PE / team kit for her.

Bought a Hotpoint WMD960, 1600rpm spin etc. Took out a service contract and thank Christ we did. Absolute rubbish from day one. Countless call outs. Bearings after bearing went on it. Then drums, pcb, suspension, motors. Basically the thing kept shaking itself to bits. A stream of engineers at least twice a year. One actually said the 1600 spin was really too much for the machine.
Culminated earlier this year with them stating it unrepairable and we got a new one out of it. Got given a list. What did SWMBO go for? Another Hotpoint!

Hotpoint have been shïte for years. Back in the 90s people at work were complaining about Hotpoint machines shredding their clothes. I had a whirlpool delivered damaged and they wanted too send someone out too repair it !! i had the boy give me a hand a shoved it in the back of the micra and delivered it too the local currys for an exchange unit. this was in the days of 5 kids at home !!

One of the many, many engineers that came to do work openly alleged that Hotpoint promoted the 1600rpm spin when it was known the machine model would fail prematurely. What happened with ours seemed to support that.
My mum had a Bosch bought in the early 80s. Heavily used all I ever did was replace the motor brushes. The thing was bomb proof. She had it I think around 35 years. Tbh it only went as by that time she had advanced dementia. What was being washed was pretty "grim" shall we say. That and she would load it with cake boxes and Battenburg, KitKat, Wagon Wheel wrappers etc. When she went the thought of stripping and cleaning it saw us ditch it and get a new one for the short time Dad hung on. Given away now to a young couple starting out.
Bosch I believe bought a Spanish factory producing low end stuff and rebadged it. Hence some stuff being badged Made In EU rather than Made In West Germany as Mum's was.
A lot of conjecture and opinion of course but there's no smoke without fire!

All I can say is, my free Hotpoint has been perfectly reliable, turns on and off when it should, locks and unlocks the door when it should, and if I put dirty clothes in the front, put detergent in the top, it produces clean, damp clothes ready to be hung up to dry .
I wouldn't want it in the living room alongside the TV, but it has stayed where I put it 8/9 years ago - well apart from when I dragged it out to connect my power washer to the hot feed pipe to be able to give an engine block and heads a good blasting
It has a built in dryer that I never use - but I did come back from a work trip, loaded it up and thought after a good while it seemed to be taking a long time . . .investigating revealed the dryer in operation - my friend who popped in every day to feed the cats has a young daughter . . . who twiddled anything within reach that could be twiddled and I hadn't noticed the selector switch had been twiddled to a good dry time after the wash.

At the umpteenth time of fixing it, I actually unplugged unhosed it, kicked it out and across the back garden in a childish fit of temper....
Then my dopey wife dragged it back in and called the repair man.
When he came round and took the lid off, my then 4 yr old son said "My daddy kicked that down the garden"....
Repair man did us all a favour and condemned it...

All washer/driers are crap! Hotpoint went bust yeares ago and is just one of the many brands now owned by Merloni in Italy (Indesit et al) I have just bought an EBAC British made from 85% British components, Made in County Durham, 7 years parts and labour warranty, and this!

Again, all I can say is my Hotpoint washer/never used dryer has been worth every penny it cost, having been perfectly suited to the task I have given it many, many times of producing clean, damp clothes
Although I didn't actually pay anything for it. . . just reclaimed it from my mates garden and let it dry off for a while before plugging it in.
