It does..........and your right, it is quite simple to increase and decrease the wire feed speed and would be no problem to do it remotely.
But if you wanted to have a decent usable +/- of current/amps range from your remote control or your footpedal (Like a Foot remote on Tig) you would also need to change the voltage along with it and that's where the problems occur. Simply changing the wirespeed and leaving the voltage where it is, wouldn't help much.......as your welding condition wouldn't be much cop
...but aren't you talking about a fancy electronic gizmo MIG there Matt? My MIG has 12 voltage settings; I set it to "the one" (eg. recommended by the miller calc.) and alter the amps by wire feed speed & torch travel speed. If I could trim the wire speed it would still give me a better weld bead appearance, flow & probably a better penetration too. ...wouldn't it?
The wire feed controller knob on my mig is a bit... "touchy". I'd be happier if I could just alter the wire speed, fractionally, and leave the volts on whatever setting the weld required.
