What Chop Saw Have You Got?

b&q sell blades of all diffrent diameteres with adaptors for the blades to fit different size hubs.

i was just looking at a "fury" blade thats made by rage. just over £20 that would cut all materials. but it wasnt in the right diameter for the saw i was looking at.

the evo stuff runs slower as well basically designed to work only with there saw

yeah pauld it does look like a wood saw. but i was going to fit a metal blade or one of those fury blades that cut everything. ill need a wood blade from time to time anyway, so it will be used.

ive been to three aldi shops toady and they have only got a power craft one for £20. i didnt know what the quality was like on power craft so i left it there.

Aldi only have them in very occasionaly, it's not a stock item. They're not much more on ebay.

Powercraft stuff is...ok for DIY use. I use a fair bit of their kit and not really broke anything. It just doesn't inspire confidence like high quality kit does LOL

If anybody's interested as at today the Walton-on-Thames branch of Aldi still have 2 x Evo Fury 2 saws - they're priced at £87 according to the sticker though

Clarke Cut Off Saw

Not wishing to be negative but....

I brought a Clarke Abrasive Cut Off saw - mainly cut 40mm box max 3mm wall thickness. Had it about three years and only put two disk through it in all that time.

I was not impressed that it had failed so soon but out of warranty. Rang Clarke International where you can get spares. Range all afternoon and couldn't get through. Finally at 16:45 on the Friday I was told that "it was a bit late and everything has shut down for the weekend". When I complained the numty on the phone wasn't very helpful and having spoken to his boss, he was a biut more appolgetic but that was last Friday and now they have stopped responding to my emails (and yes I was not rude).

Basically I would suggest that if you are going to buy anything from Clarke make sure that it is so simple it won't break (axle stands etc) or don't bother, cos the quality is crap and the service worse !

unless you buy it through a trustworthy dealer, same as anything really

my son bought me a woodstar mc06 mini steel cut off saw.
its crap.it would not cut 13mm quare bar no matter how slow / very light pressure put down on it. after 3 slow cuts the motor started to smoke. it'll cut thin walled tubes etc but thats it.
