What causes excessive brushwear ac motor

Four years ago I turned the rotor down on my lathe, smooth and clean really proud of myself.

Possibly not good enough if a 3 jaw chuck was used, as most have run-out. Possibly brush just a bit tight in the holder could help to degrade the contact? Not undercutting the mica would not help.

did brushes on a grinder once.... when new set was in realised the rear bearing was gone.... rattled about like a good un

We had what I think was a Indesit for about 25 years maybe more
She had little bit of rust pitting out the paint so my mother decided to replace it.
We then replace them one every 4 years.
They mostly had the main bearing fail destroying everything, on one electronic fail and so on.
Oh good old electromechanical programmers

When we first bought a house money was very tight, I managed to cut a set of Forklift truck motor brushes down to fit the washing machine as they were free.

i used to nick washing machine carbon brushes from work and saw and file them down for powertools

Problem with trying to use a drain pump is they are a very basic impeller pump and so give very little if any "pressure" and are very poor at lifting fluid to any hight.

I get apps for your heating, doorbells etc but the wifi washing machines have always baffled me because you have to put your clothes in and close the door. Most of them have had a 'ready in' function for years, put your washing in, set it to be ready in X amount of time.

You have to fill a washing machine and close the door so the wifi app starting it seems completely pointless if you can set it to be ready when you want it to when loading it anyway.

Maybe I'm missing something though.

There are other considerations. A better, more expensive machine may last much longer while also being more economical to operate.

My previous AEG was economical and lasted well over twenty years, with minimal spares/maintenance. For a start, it had sufficiently sized drum bearings - not like a lot of the cheaper machines - to last that full life of the machine.

Have used them as suds/coolant pumps on both lathes and a milling machine. Being an impellor pump it needs to sit at or below the tank.
