Uncle had a 3000 GT Capri Mk1 (70's so doesn't count) On our way to Bristol down the M4 one night, hit a car transporter ramp that had fallen off.
Both front alloy wheels and tyres burst, and car overturned. Luckily we were wearing seatbelts. Car a write off.

But for 1980s a Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI and I liked to look of the Renault Fuego

There's one down the road from me, its numberplate is "V8".

I toured east Germany as the border collapsed. there were hundreds of them dumped everywhere. The motors were piled up in hedges. A 600V twin that I reckoned with imagination might fit into a bike frame.
Then idiots started tuning them. We saw one in koln hell!!! the noise and acceleration. They weighed nothing with papier mache bodywork

I still have my late parents MG Maestro EFI. Dry stored all its life, if it went out in the rain father would dry it off when it got back in the garage. Only 47000 on the clock. Been more reliable than any German car I’ve had!

I’d like to add to it:- Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Vanden Plas Daimler Double Six H.E. , Jag XJS, to name but a few.
