30 years ago me and the ex mrs drove from Ikea in Brent Cross, to Harlesden, each with a hand out the window holding on to the flatpack iron bedstead on the roof we'd just bought and couldn't afford the delivery charges

I got one of those big pump up victorian church organ things in the back of an Astra once.. It was over 7 ft tall but in fairness did come in half with a bit of screwdriver action.
I had to smash the little plastic things out of the back of the car that hold the parcel shelf to get it in width ways tho,... wasn't bothered as I always binned the parcel shelf things anyway.
