What are you machining?

I struggle with chips, mine seem to be long continuous lengths. Sometimes I can get them to break but I don't know why!
Have you a pic of a homemade magnet wand?

Generally means too small depth of cut or too slow feed for your insert or tool.

Found a pic here, and a few posts down completed. Its essentially a plastic tube with a thin end, and a cap on the other end with a hole. A bit of 5mm steel bar pulls the magnet up and down. I think it was 16mm dia x 8mm magnets, using two of them.
It would be best with a ring to break the magnetic connection as the magnet is pulled up, but I generally use my hand or a cloth while holding it over bin.. having a ring would stop it fitting into the small areas that make it so useful.

I made 3 different sized pipe stand offs to get around the posts in the wall and then got my new hardline installed. Good setup on the lines, but is that footpeg a styling upgrade :D

Thanks. I think my depth of cut was ok at 1.5mm for dcmt070204. However I'm definitely guilty of a fine feed. I will speed that up a bit.
I will have a go at a swarf wand, once I've cleared my "to do" list!

One thing has been bugging me for ages, if I wanted to make a boring bar, how to work out how high to mill the insert pocket, for it to be on center when rotated over 10-15 degrees. Its actually very simple trigonometry. We know the angle and the radius of the tip to center, which told me I need to bump the tip of the insert up by 1.6-2.6mm depending on angle. I chose 2mm.

Now its not ideal, I want to cut 1.5mm grooves but these Mgmn200 inserts are 2mm wide, so I may grind it down before brazing.

Was asked to make some fittings to replace some corroded ones. Male thread seemed weird as it was measing just over 29.2mm with 1.5mm pitch so reckoned it was m30 x 1.5 so made up a test plug and it wouldn't go in so reduced down to 29.5 and it fitted good so not sure. Anyway the OD turning I did on the CNC and then bored and tapped 3/4BSP on the manual, saved setting up drills in the CNC but probably wasn't any quicker then milled the hex on the Chiron.

Quick test of my internal grooving tool, I didnt have much time so tried it for an external groove in some en16m, which always turns very nicely.

Off topic but, then I went to the local forest and had my first go at DRT tree climbing on an oak. Possibly starting a new job tomorrow to learn tree work

Not to disappoint you I machined this today. Waiting on some nylon hinges arriving to see if I can cut them down to suit, I will then be able to bore/tap the screw holes for them and once done I will be able to anodise.

Where was you 30 years ago when we were trying to find someone to make big slab yokes for our streetfighters...great job on those clamps.

Got the hinges today and managed to mill it to shape then bored and tapped. Once done I anodised it and dyed black. I did the knob (not that one) at too high a current and it didn't take the dye, will make another later and anodise at a lower current.

Got the charging pad filled with Ratytech Magic Gel and then fitted the holder to the bike. Now I don't have to worry about the phone jumping out like happened with the last holder but won't be totally happy until I have a black knob

Knock off Quad mount, in case i need to charge my phone. So I spaced it off so an Ipad will fit as well.
