Slightly off topic, do all wire wheels throw wire at you?
Yes the knot wheel ones are harder wearing though, and don't throw as much. They're savage on soft surfaces, though.Slightly off topic, do all wire wheels throw wire at you?
No, the bald ones don't.

Pretty much the only grinder I use now is my variable speed brushless makita 18v, it's awesome.
Variable speed makes a huge difference to wire wheel life, and also effectiveness
Might just have to try one. Got a few war wounds from today’s efforts
Dunno what you're using it for but the abracs pipeliner brushes dont throw wire. They are brilliant for slag, especially for folk like me who are too idle to use a manual wire brush
Now I've got one, I'll never go back. It actually makes using those huge wire wheel brushes an enjoyable experience, at say 2000rpm rather than 10,000!
Haven’t got variable speed, might need to buy one of those too. Any excuse
That's my pointEnjoyable, that’s a word I’ve never thought would be in the same sentence as wire wheel
Just don't introduce one to the front of your jumper, that'll get you attention. [Don't even ask how I know this.... ]
