Yes, Aluminium body rather than the plastic on the cheaper ones. I used to kill decent brand 9" grinder within 6 months then I got the Hitachi, must have had it 10 years before it croaked so I made sure the replacement was the same.
I have one of the cheaper ones as well but the G23MR is the one I use most, heavy but balanced and powerful, just feels right.

Got a makita 115 corded which I find the switch a real pain at times and an hikoki 18v cordless
which I do like a lot, the reason for the hikoki was all my work cordless stuff is hitachi / hikoki so I have quite a few batteries and a couple of spare chargers.

High end Hitachi line is great ,cheap line not so much (powerful but don't last)
Speaking about 9" grinders that one is on the list of the ones I'd like to have

Those are the four 230mm grinders I'd love to have on my tools shelf

And nowadays Hitachi grinders are even greater because they share parts with Metabo (which being bought by Hitachi)

I have a cordless ads drill From Hitachi 36V
About cordless that's an important aspect
I have not other 18V tools , just a parkside cordless drill , and if I'll need a cordless grinder I'll probably go for parkside .
But with cordless tools you have not to choose the tool but the battery
Without budget restrictions I'd go or with Hitachi or metabo (more likely to go with Metabo because more options cause the CAS ) that have the same battery technology just different housing
Those batteries are the best you can get nowadays .

How much did you pay for the cordless 9"
I found a metabo one on eBay a while ago for 300 euros (1500 is the usual price ) but as I'm very lucky and poor I didn't get it because budget restrictions

Today I fixed one makita 4.5" grinder I had bought back In 2004, I lent it to a mate who cut some tyres off a few wheels from a trailer after a tyre explosion, result- both pinions got damaged. Went to local tool repair shoop and got a set of genuine pinions... Changing them was a breeze: pull small bearing, pop the circlip off then lift the pinion out- has a woodruff key and it took 10 min the most! Great, great grinders!

I love big bulky grinders but only when necessary
I have a 7" for detail works because is lighter than a 9" but for heavy grinding 9" is the way to go .
Agree with you about injuries a smaller one because small is more likely to be considered safe so neglected during its use and eventually get yourself a very nasty day .
9" is heavy so probably people don't like it because make you get tired faster than a smaller one
Probably 9" has less risk than 4½" but surely much more damage
So both are very dangerous
Surely the most dangerous tool is the brain , people have to get killed by themselves ,they use tools improperly or with paying enough attention to what they are doing how the workpiece and the tool would react in case something goes wrong .
And surely the use of PPE (Italian DPI which stands for individual protective devices)
Which could be both neglected or not proper.
It's useless using the glove if those are not suitable for the task
Useless wear safety glasses if those are on your head and not in front of your eyes.
Or nowdays I see people using masks cause COVID19 but they leave the nose out just covering the mounth with the mask
There are a big list of things people do the wrong way .
You can also use all the possible safety precautions but if you don't secure the workpiece it will bind jamming the wheel causing it to explode and the grinder will kickback

When I want to create a big mess and get really dirty I bring out the AEG 230mm

125 mm I have are Makita, Metabo, Hitachi and DeWalt. The ones with least vibrations are DeWalt and Metabo but the Metabo is lighter and slimmer so that's my favourite.

As mentioned before the Makitas are good but the switch is crap. A squirt of ptfe lubricant makes it better though.

I recently purchased a Kress 750 watt (made in china) and a Metabo 900 watt (made in germany) both 125mm discs. The Kress spins really fast, much faster than the metabo. It's useless for grinding as the speed it too high and my hand feels numb for hours after. I use the Kress for cutting, which it does really well. The Kress also has a long cable and easy to use thumb switch. The metabo on the other hand has a shorter cable and a thumb switch that initially needed both my thumbs to operate, but after prying it off and smoothing the contact surfaces with sandpaper and applying some grease is now much easier to use, but still I think thumb switches are a stupid invention. I prefer paddle switches.

just mains powered ,,, last count was over twenty ..
bosch gw115 the slim line are the ones i like to work with , but they only do a year and the armature is toast
dewalt , older 1000w i use for buffing mostly , bit heavy , but they stick the pace.
dewalt new slim line ,, total joke , they are huge , and heavy and annoying , mines now doing wire brush duty
makita , several versions from 700 to 850 , run smooth and quite compact
hitachi , great bang for buck , but i seldom seem to pick it up , only got 1 of them
fein ,, have a couple and like them , but they are big ish
hilti ,, better than they look , they look cheap and they are but work well
metabo , soft start bugs me as its too slow to get going , constant speed control is good though , but expensive
few other cheapies ,,, mmm ok ish
they all have their uses , next buy will be more makita or fein i think.
I do like to have a few grinders about me ,,,
