You said "gas flow 4" - 4 what?

Is that using a flowmeter, or a peashooter, or the knob on a disposable reg?

Disposable reg it's got numbers 1 to 6
In the sip manual it says use between 3/5

In fairness, that could be anything then...

I can't seem to find a gauge type regulator for disposable bottles
The one I bought is from machine Mart I think it's crap to be honest

Usually to get anything like the required gas flow you have to have those regs wound out full bore, and even then it's iffy...

I'd recommend getting a peashooter flowmeter so you can see what's really coming out - from the original pics I'd guess at a slight gas issue.

So for now I should turn the regulator on full till I get a pea shooter flowmeter I presume

as @pdg said get a peashooter gas around 8ltrs for inside work or areas where there is no wind

if you are doing this on the cheap get your self some co2 fire extingusher or a pub gas bottle the reg will cost around £20 and £15 ish for the gas

or if your welding cars body then hobby weld bottle around the £70 for a year rental and a fill still around £20 for the reg as well

i did start using that welder when i started and they are a good welder for the odd job and a good starter welder for the small stuff

when i sold it i got £45 in good working order so not worth spending mega money but my first upgrade was a new liner it was a poundland curtain wire and that was a great little upgrade lasted till i sold it a year later and made it work well as the old liner was full of carp give it a go there is a instructions on doing a liner change on fourm

dont bother with a new torch cost more than its worth and if you get the welding bug better save a bit now and spend on your next welder

I was told I could not put a cooling fan on it
Do you have any details about were to wire it ect

I just used 240vac fans and wired them to run constantly; something like this, I keep my eye open for broken pub fridges as they always have several 240v fans that can be salvaged. Fitted in the case if there's room or when there's not I folded up a bit of sheet aluminium as a cowl and riveted it on the outside; ideally the fan should blow onto the transformer and the diodes, but as long as it's exchanging the air inside the case it will help.
