Erratic travel speed am I moving too fast ?Poor torch angle and erratic travel speed are 2 things that stand out to me but in fairness, they're not that bad.
Certainly far better than some attempts we see on here.
Other sideWhat's the other side look like?
Nope I don't no about the two ranges C02 / and mix ? Something else I don't knowYou are are doing all right with the old Mig Mate, it actually has a decent wire feed motor unlike the later ones but it still pays to have the torch lead in a nice smooth curve, don't pull it into a kink or the wire feed will suffer making the wire feed pulse.
I take it you have worked out the two ranges, marked CO2 and Mix (?) , at one time I measured the OCVs and marked up the front of mine, I have a lot on over the weekend but I will see if I can get a picture of it.
Cheers I will check that out again i do keep going back to the tutorial and write things downAlmost full penetration, so pretty good for starters.
See here and scroll down for examples http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/power-settings.htm
Good, I am pleased it is the same one. Yes the black button is the high / low range button, in for the lower range and out for the higher voltages. Mine only works when the buttons are pressed in, these probably came out when I brushed off the spiders' webs this morning. No mate that's the same as mine apart from the white buttons only work when pushed in
So it only has high med low and the black button
If I put .8 wire in and do some lines on 2 mmYer I went a bit soft in the head and replaced the torch assembly and earth clamp on mine, I probably spent more than it is worth. Like you say it is not a bad welder up to a couple of 1 mm sheets, beyond that it will cut out on the thermal overload very quickly.
I don't use mine much these days but handy to have around.
If it's otherwise a sound welder it'll be a good candidate for retrofitting a wee cooling fan? I've fitted a few to arc welders before now to lengthen the duty cycle.Yer I went a bit soft in the head and replaced the torch assembly and earth clamp on mine, I probably spent more than it is worth. I was told I could not put a cooling fan on itIf it's otherwise a sound welder it'll be a good candidate for retrofitting a wee cooling fan? I've fitted a few to arc welders before now to lengthen the duty cycle.
