Should do, you can't isolate a charge within a sphere which is the principle the suits, and cages work on, although magnetic fields on the other hand are a completely different kettle of fish...
Whilst the suit would protect the wearer from a discharge, if it were grounded, it wouldn't protect the wearer from a magnetic field.

I done some research today with a EMF meter thinking a Ark welder would go off the scales but to my amazement the unit when powered up gave normal readings and was all ok and i could stand by it also to note the wires was all normal readings , I also walked around my house testing other things like the lcds the microwave all normal readings like the ark welder which i thought was going to be the highest of them turned out to be normal when powered up what did go off the scales was american fridge freezers we have for years the reading when way in the red and when i put my hand over the the freezer my pacemaker started pulsing so who right who's wrong do they test all items i don't think so so do all items have emf yes they do but do all affect pacemakers is yet to be proved so my had advise is to get an EMF reader and conduct your own tests to see if the item gives of high magnetic Fields .very interesting knowing what i thought was going to be high turned out to be no more than a standard readings

lol I have had jokes most of my life about the pacemaker but its no joke when having them as it restricts what you can use with them , what about a lead vest like the use in the xray departments i was wondering if these can stop EMF or radiation it works for them ,the question above i was going to ask what about when your lying on the floor welding do you have to sit on a rubber mat when using the welding equipment i bought the inverter from aldi this week

• when i tested the EMF readings on this the fridge is higher and the welder is showing no EMF lol

I think that it's better for you, use not any tipe of arc welder.
You can't because your healt it's more important than any passion.
But it's not all lost......
You can buy an oxyacetylene torch, and use him.
Anyway may be possible that you can use an arc welder safely
If you
...are out of the elettromagnetic field
...wear a welding suit
...use a little dc welder
...use low amperage
...other tips of your doctor

i been looking at both but with gas i just don't have clue what will weld cars theirs the oxy turbo 90 110 and 200 that can weld but the bottles are small and i emailed a few company's and they want over £200 pound deposit on there bottles, i looked all over the internet for new and second hand but i have had no luck finding nothing ,if anyone can send me links to gas welding kits please do as i failed to find anything i need something that do a good job on welding plates on holes on cars . anyone selling a gas welder lol

If the doctor give you his ok, you can think to buy a welder.
But if not, i'm sorry for you but you must try another hobby.

110 transformer might also be something to be aware of...

It was for testing car seat frames, you could vary the shaking frequency from a few Hz upwards, all part of NVH (noise vibration harshness) testing.

Sorry, I haven't had time to read the whole thread but I read as far as telling you to keep the arc 2 feet from the device in the under 160A section.

Unless you are confident of welding with your arms fully outstretched at all times you cant achieve this, I'd say that it isn't possible.

I think the advice would allow you to be near welding machines if you observe the distances but welding at that distance isn't really practical.

The doctors and hospitals will always err on the side of caution, to protect you and themselves. The manufacturers want to sell kit and they will bend the other way on advice. Who is correct, probably somewhere in between.
In the end its your call how much you want to do it.
I do wonder if there is a HSE regulation or pacemaker qualification spec that can be looked at, which will probably be the more reliable source.
I'm an electronics engineer who has spent a lot of time working in EMC (making sure stuff works with, and doesnt interfere with other stuff) I would imagine there is a spec for pacemakers, and that they are designed to a very high level of immunity. You will have magnetic field from the box, and a little from the torch cable, and RF from the arc. Its probably more the magnetic field than RF that would cause problems.

You would probably be better with an inverter welder rather than transformer as it will have less magnetic field.

hi all i took the plunge and bought one of these instead the Oxyturbo turbo set 200 portable i am not sure how good they are but the videos on you tube look ok i was hoping to weld 1.6mm and 2.0mm mild steel i have not received it i took the ark welder back got a refund ,the only problem i got now is knowing what welding rods to use with this and the oxygen bottles don't last long apparent about 20 mins the mapp bottle last longer .

i remember having something like that way back when i was in my ermmm late teens to early 20's

was heating up some angle iron so i could bend it..
got it nearly red hot then the gas ran out LOL
last time i used it.

later on in life

i got a 19kg calor propane and Y size BOC oxygen

set of gauges and flashbacks, hoses and a torch...

bear in mind i didn't use it for welding, only heating or cutting
