Your mot man's not your uncle is it sictransit? I recall he was Death. Certainly trying to kill somebody
Isn't that one of the Dingles from Emmerdale?
you cant get a fail for a non structural part with a hole in it.
Unless it presents a hazard, such as a jagged hole in a wing.
and the bloke who said the MOT man is a cowboy really needs to learn some respect.
Presumably a reference to the "tack and bitcho" remark. If there was nothing wrong with tack welding it why hide it with underseal? I'd find it hard to repect anyone who condones that level of workmanship, structural or not.
why don't you so called experts tell him what he's done wrong
If you read the whole thread you'll find that's exactly what has happened, and please don't go bad-mouthing people on here who give their time freely to help others.
What a shame all the people on here and nobody knows what the mot rules are???? THE MAIN POINT NO HOLES OR ROT WITHIN 12" OF MAIN STRUCTURAL POINT or MOUNTS
runnach. The OP may have been old but the last two posts before mine are only a few months old. Is it a rule here that new posters are only allowed to add to posts of a certain age?
malcolm i remember those days, and i remember being told by an mot bloke to do that exact same thing as intransit. and yes i know you now have to seem weld.and its rubish. recent job i did was a discovery sills, inside and out both sides. customer took it too an mot station i don't know. tester was in shock as it was fully seam welded. inside and out( it was a slow day lol)yes admittedly 130 ft of weld may have been overkill. But that is what the rules say, and its what the customer wanted.and im willing to bet those sills ended up about as strong as intransit's work.had the land rover not had a seperate chassis i would have fused to do the job.
