What if I said I just bought a 500amp Kemppi because the dataplate implied it would run on 230 volts at a lower maximum current?

Because that's what I've done.

It was an impulse buy, I couldn't help myself

But I have enough change to buy a knackered Corsa.

It's a Kemppi MARC 500HF, the listing said ali welder but now I look more closely I can't see any switches to chose between AC and DC.
I've been a bit silly haven't I?

I'm hoping I can get around 80-100 amps, if not I could get a 32 amp feed fitted.

And yeah, it's a beast, but it came with a cooler so you'll like it.

I'd say I think you have made a big mistake.

I'm starting to think so too. If it comes to it I can stick it back on eBay.

I would be surprised if a Kemppi would get you ac on single phase most are 3 phase.

Actually, you may have got lucky - there is a single phase version.

Yeah 240v 5million amp

Single phase 400V is 50A

So a spitball would be roughly 100A on 240V?

Your problem might not be powering it as much as moving it.
If the smaller kemppi tylarc from a similar age is anything to go by there is a reason for the eye bolts.

This may still need a kemppi hf box such as a LHF 3,4 or 5.
Kemppi do like a box attached to a box swappable with a 3rd box all via a few multi pin plugs and a good few meters of cable.
In the day they were often nicknamed the Christmas tree.
If you want a hand working out what you have and what its going to take to get it running, i might be able to take a look if your not to far into sufolk, i occasionally have to go to sudbury. ( worked with a few sets but am no expert)

I'd say shift it on asap and buy the 200 amp inverter (or similar) I linked you to.
That set is a world of problems you don't need.
