Hey guys,
had a good read around on the forums and have taken in a lot of information but soon as I try look for a welder I’m bombarded on websites with sooooo many different options and I’m looking to only buy once so thought I’d put a post up for some expert advice.
What I want a welder for:
-Land Rover defender chassis/rust repairs, this is the main bulk of what I’ll be doing
-Land Rover bulkhead repairs (1.2mm mild steel I believe)
-The odd alloy repair (my defender bodywork is alloy)
-Home use (I’ll be doing these repairs on my driveway/on the road)
-light fabrication such as adding towing eyes, bumper parts and so on for off road use
my ideal budget is anywhere from £0 to £300, I’d happily pay £50-100 over the £300 if it’s going to make a massive difference to what I can get. I want something that’s going to last the long term that my learning/skill will not outgrow.
my current experience...zero, never welded anything of any standard before
many thanks
