Mate sold them a Mondeo ages ago for something like £ 105.
Because it was under £150 or whatever there was a surcharge of £50.

Think he was offered £85 from the local scrapyard.

We buy any bike is the Superbike Factory. Massive showroom, 1000 + bikes last time I went.

I tried them last year, first offer was a joke, but about 24 hours later I get another email almost doubling the first offer.

It was an old Peugeot 106, saved him the time of getting it to the yard and a £30 bonus

If you do an online valuation they will often increase the price after a few days, as said above. But they are also renowned for reducing it once they've seen it in person. Worth using imo if you have a low value car and want to avoid ebay hassle but otherwise not good value.

Earlier this year a friend "upgraded" and got herself a Tesla company car through her business (heavily subsidised by the tax payer )

As a result she sold the mint MR2 convertible she bought 2 years ago despite originally planning to keep the car until she was too old to drive.
Due to needing a quick no hassle sale the MR2 went to WBAC for near scrap value - then they knocked a couple of hundred off as 2 wheels had been kerb marks.
They serve a purpose but I rate them alongside cash converters & the like.


Yes, I'm miffed that she sold the car 2 weeks before my planned visit to hers. I had offered to beat their price (she would have got a better price and I would have got a lovely car. Life goes on...)

My daughter used them to get shot of her astra. It had damage down the passenger side and they still gave her a couple of grand. I wouldn't have given that for it without damage! She didn't get such a good deal on the astra I gave her but she waited too long to get shot after the pandemic and prices had started to reduce. So you basically screwed a "mate " out of 2 grand. Some mate. 3 years ago I introduced a "mate" of 50 years standing to another mate who was selling off all his workshop equipment and retiring. Mate no1 basically stole a grands worth of Snap On cabinets. End of 50 year association completely.

Well, I didn't know what price it should have been, offered sight unseen when the intermediate mate told me, and his Mrs was going to get the scrappy to pick it up if it hadn't gone that month - he'd had a 5mph tumble, broken his wrist (and scuffed the fairing and exhaust), she was Determined he wasn't getting back on a bike...
And he got more for it than he'd been offered, a lot more than if the scrappy had taken it away, he was happy - so get off your high horse and drink your milk.

I sold my last 520d to a similar firm here in dublin..... the increased their offer upon inspection (to be fair it did look really well), and it sat unsold for nearly a year. Eventually it was priced at €1500 over what they paid me and they would have had to replace the two rear tyres at 300 a pop!

They used to use a simple tactic: their website would offer a good price, with small print that the car must be in perfect condition. Which no car ever is. When you arrive at their site they find faults and the offer goes down to an awful one.
