Waxoyl type stuff

ok so want to coat the wheel arch areas , inside sills , underbody etc on my 2002 Audi TT and Allso engine Bay Area my Dacia sandero 2005 with very thin engine bay paint . (It was cheap to buy so no complaints really )

So waxoyl and tetroseal (carplan stuff) is £25. 5litres
Morris's Ankor wax £47
Bilt hamber Dynax S-50 £60 ! Per 5litres

So Which to go for ?

The Morris ankor wax I can prob get a bit cheaper locallly as the factories about 1/2mile from here

I've used waxoyl before but has anyone real world experience of the others ?

I uze dynax s-50 use it for spraying into cavities and brushing onto the rusty parts of the bodywork on my car. I wouldnt bother coating the underside or wheel arches if there is already some paint or stonechip there. in recent years, waxoly has compared well to others in tests, but I was using it 10 years ago and it would harden and flake off in cills, which then rotted out. the bilt hamber doesnt harden and when the weather gets hot can liquify again, coat the inside of the cavities and then set again.

I have used Waxoil for as long as I can remember and not had any issues with it, I prefer the black version because it tidies up the appearance at the same time.

Is that old stock bob can't be that good the cans going rusty .i wonder it's that same formula as when it was finnigans hammerite/waxoyl.

I'll see how much my local stockist of Morris wants for the Anka wax as I like to support local industry
Or ill just go with the waxoyl .

@8ob. Do you spray yours on ? I do have a sprayer some where to do the inside of the cills (when I can find it ). I think I maybe used an old Schultz can , . It says on the 5litres waxoyl can to use a 2.5litre pressure pot ?

I bought loads of it when it was on special offer at the wholesalers for £10 gallon hence the rusty tins . I bung the big tins in the over for about an hour on low heat then decant into empty schutz tins and blast it on with the schutz gun.

Mines been using Oil of Ugly or something like it and that is definitely working

Dinitrol all day long for me....especially on a car you are intending to keep for a long time and work on yourself!

If its something you're selling then dip it in black waxoyl and just wipe the glass clean so you can see out of the windscreen..buyers love that stuff for some reason!

You make a good point.
Magazine reviews mostly deal in degrees of excellence, avoiding having to openly criticise a poor product and risk losing advertising revenue.
It's the ad' income that pays the bills, not the cover price of the magazine or the quantity sold.

I paint the cans black and leave them in the sun, the Waxoyl gets nice n runny.
